Bones

In addition to the ribbons! The wrappings! The tags! And the tinsel! The trimmings! The trappings! my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every episode of Bones we could get our little mouse on (via Hulu - thanks Kim) this Christmas vacation. For those of you who know the characters, the following 21 seconds should send you into spasms of laughter.

For those of you who don't - I cannot recommend the show enough: it always starts with a badly decomposed body and goes straight up from there using forensic science, inductive and deductive reasoning, and the genuine affection/sexual tension between the two intelligent and highly motivated main characters - a beautiful genius forsensic anthropologist and an virile and honest FBI agent.

And more good news! On New Year's Day, there's a Bones marathon on TNT!

Darn it. No TNT for me. I will have to watch season three on DVD. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The corpses are quite disgusting. I love how the character of Bones doesn't even flinch with all of the ooze.

How long have you had music in the binder in your banner picture?

Love Bones, love Booth, think Sweets is a riot. New episodes start on the 15th! Will you be caught up by then?

For ever. It's my old chorus binder.

Season One, on sale at Target this week, $17. Season Three, on sale at Target this week, $19.99. Season Two, 11 of 16 episodes on New Year's Day on TNT.

Oh yeah, I'll be ready - and it's moved to Thursday night at 8:00 on Fox!

Doesn't Sweets remind you of Max H.? He cracks me up, too.

Bones has grown on me quite a bit. It bugged me at first... perhaps because I had a hard time watching David Boreanaz in any role other than Angel. (I haven't really cared to follow any TV show since Buffy and Angel disappeared... I hope the new Joss Whedon/Eliza Dushku show is good...)

Also, at first I found Emily Deschanel odd-looking and annoying. Odd-looking in comparison to her sister Zooey, and annoying in that I thought they were deliberately poking fun at intelligent and logical people in the way Bones was portrayed.

None of those impressions hold any longer, and I love the show.

Is Sweets the same kid from Freaks & Geeks?

I completely agree with your assessment of Emily vs. Zooey, but she has definitely grown on me, too. Despite my love of Firefly, I couldn't get into the camp of Buffy and Angel. I realize that this is practically sacrilege to some Joss Whedon fans, but you'll all have to get over it.

It's maddening how the characters go through flat to total-opposites-of-their-former-selves phases. Right now, neither one of us are that impressed with Booth's lack of dimension, but hopefully he'll rebound.

Yes, Sweets, whose character has gone through some good changes, is that kid from Freaks & Geeks.
