Local schools closed Monday; trick or treating postponed

Local Public Schools will be closed Monday, Oct. 31 due to the safety hazard of low-lying power lines and remaining debris, the Superintendent announced Sunday evening.
In addition, the Local Police Department postponed Halloween trick or treating until Friday, Nov. 4. The hours will be 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Where's the Great Pumpkin when you need him? Isn't he supposed to keep Santa from overstepping the bounds like this?

I guess there were no sincere enough pumpkin patches in New England, alas....

You could be right. This year several members of my family noticed how much Lucy Van Pelt and I have in common. (A little more than I care to admit.)

Stephen and I spent this last week at the Objectivist Conference ( OCON ) in Boston. We started out the week staying in town, but finished it off commuting. As we stayed at the Seaport Hotel at the beginning of the week when we knew almost no one, we didn’t take advantage of the social atmosphere, but were happily sequestered in our room. After getting to know a few people, we dined, drank, and were generally merry with those few. Through the classes, general sessions, and referenced symposiums (in the ancient Greek sense), I left with a calmer sense of purpose, renewed motivation, and a smoldering desire to make the world a better place. There's No Place Like Home

Vacation was fun, but I like being home. I guess I'm just boring that way. There was plenty of sun, sand, salt water kisses, family, food, and fun. Maybe it was the lack of tutus and tiaras. Now we're all experiencing a slight vacation hangover and need to rest. It's a good thing we have a few days before work and school.
