Have You Gotten Your Letter Yet?

Today is my youngest daughter's 11th birthday.

I'm certain that this simple letter will be her most favorite present - ever.

Yes, I made it. I tried to follow the exact typesetting of the American version of the book (our English version is no doubt hidden somewhere in the secret chamber of my daughter's room).

I must warn you ladies not to make the same rookie mistake that I made: Don't forget the ink used on the envelope is green!

I will never live that down.

And while I couldn't make it fly, I do have a snowy owl puppet and wish I had remembered that and hung it and the letter from the light in her room. Oh well, live and learn.

Even with the gaff of not using the right color ink, and your limited skill set in making things fly, given the fact that you are a muggle, you earned yourself major mom points!

Strictly speaking, I might not be a muggle. I'm quite sure my mother is a witch, which in no way insults her.

You are one cool mom. My kids would have been overjoyed to receive a letter like this. I hope they are still HP fanatics in 3 years time.

Doh! Need to go back and reread the whole series because I forgot how all-important 11 is when my son had his birthday this past winter.

Was just planning to reread The Half-Blood Prince. Grumble, grumble. Amongst other books I'm SUPPOSED to be reading.

I just did the HP test, I am Prof Dumbledore. Can't wait for the kids to take it tomorrow morning. thanks for the link.

I've put a reminder in my calendar for a month before my kids' 11th birthday so that I don't forget the Hogwarts acceptance letter. How's that for forward planning? LOL

This is really the test she took. I knew it was based on the Myers-Briggs type, but I found only that other one quickly last night.

I don't know what the difference is, but I came out as Hermione in both, so they're obviously quite accurate.

I came out as Prof Snape on this one. However, it was the same as my Meyer's Brigg's profile. I'm going to try this on my kids this afternoon. thanks for the link.

A ball bouncing game from my youth instructed the player to throw the ball up ( plainsies ), throw it up and clap ( clapsies ) throw it up and roll your hands ( roll the ball ) and touch your shoulders ( tabapsies ). Memorizing the Preamble to the Constitution

In preparation for celebrating the 222nd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787, here are a few videos that I hope will inspire you to at least memorize the brief, but powerful Preamble. First, here is my first attempt at video editing with the bare bones Windows Movie Maker (no ability to step through frame by frame with sound, or ability to mark stops before cutting). My daughters are reading the Preamble to the Constitution from the little book I carry in my purse. They can recite it by heart, but it I thought it would be a little different (and a little less exposed) if they did it this way. Let's not even talk about the 20 takes due to laughter.
