Actually, I could care less about holding the fort, and it bothers me that I've used it incorrectly in the past, but I won't make that mistake again. It's the could care less that makes me crazy when I hear it!

The one that drives me nuts is "A long road to hoe." It's as ear-splitting as the sound of garden tools on asphalt.
Hah!
I'm pretty sure I've said, "It's a long road to . . . Yeah, that doesn't make sense, now, does it?" Long road is so seductive!
