Shrunken Head Update

I know you're dying to see the progress on our Halloween Shrunken Head project. So without further ado, I give you two of them on Day 1 (as carved).



















And here they both are on Day 10, respectively.




Ew. The guy above looks really gross (mold in your mouth will do that), and the guy on the right - YIKES!
I can hardly wait to see what they look like when they develop that pinkish tinge.

Can you put them in a warm oven on Day 1 and speed up the process?

Martha (yes, we're on a first name basis) says you can use a dehydrator so I don't know why you couldn't put them in the oven for a similar effect.

As for me, if I'm going to put apples in the oven, they'd best be covered in cinnamon and sugar with a pinch of nutmeg and maybe even stuffed between two layers of a flaky butter crust. YUM.

Stephen and I spent this last week at the Objectivist Conference ( OCON ) in Boston. We started out the week staying in town, but finished it off commuting. As we stayed at the Seaport Hotel at the beginning of the week when we knew almost no one, we didn’t take advantage of the social atmosphere, but were happily sequestered in our room. After getting to know a few people, we dined, drank, and were generally merry with those few. Through the classes, general sessions, and referenced symposiums (in the ancient Greek sense), I left with a calmer sense of purpose, renewed motivation, and a smoldering desire to make the world a better place. There's No Place Like Home

Vacation was fun, but I like being home. I guess I'm just boring that way. There was plenty of sun, sand, salt water kisses, family, food, and fun. Maybe it was the lack of tutus and tiaras. Now we're all experiencing a slight vacation hangover and need to rest. It's a good thing we have a few days before work and school.
